Nigeria’s population grew steadily from 2000 to 2009 for the decade. The population grew from 122.2 million  people in 2000 to 154.3 million people in 2009. As a result, the population grew by 26.3% in the 2000s (2000 to 2009). Additionally, the total life expectancy in Nigeria is approximately 55 years (2019). Lastly, around half of Nigeria’s population lives in urban areas.
