Nigeria’s population grew steadily from 2010 to 2019 for the decade. The population grew from 158.5 million  people in 2010 to 200.9 million people in 2019. As a result, the population grew by 21.1% in the 2010s (2010 to 2019). Additionally, the total life expectancy in Nigeria is approximately 55 years (2019). Lastly, around half of Nigeria’s population lives in urban areas.

Most importantly, the life expectancy in Nigeria has increased from 36.9 years in 1960 to 55 years in 2019. To conclude, Nigeria maintained sustained population growth despite having similar challenges as most countries on the African continent.
